Dear all,
believe it or not, the time has come to prepare for January 2010. Time sure files.
So, what did I do? I prepared a free desktop wallpaper with January 2010 Calendar.
Sizes available:
This wallpaper was created with a little help from my friends as follows:
- “Winter in Swirls”, my latest, but already very popular Photoshop brushes set. (As a matter of fact, I don’t think I ever sold so many copies of the newly published brushes set in such a short period of time.)
- Calendar 2010 Photoshop brushes set
Now, talking about Calendar 2010 Photoshop brushes set, although it is a PREMIUM $9.99 set, you can have it for free if you make a quick (and a smart) move of buying the ultimate collection 800+ Photoshop brushes (a.k.a. MEGA SET) by 31st of December 2009. (so we’re talkin’ just a few more days).
OK guys, that’s it for today. I hope you will like the free download of the day, have fun, hug and love each other, especially now in this special time of the year.
Yours,
Silvia

It’s early morning and it snows. It is a beautiful sight as I’m standing by the window witnessing this silent transformation of the landscape – from gray to white.
Mr. Alfons is dazzled too. He sees the snow for the firs time in his life and demands to go to the balcony and examine this new phenomenon.

Mr. Alfons on snow
It’s five days till Christmas and although the forecast foresees warming in the next few days ,I’m still dreaming of the white Christmas, just like Frank Sinatra. And, well, most of us.
So, let’s use this moment of the inspiration and imagine how cool would it be if we make one snowflake just to honor this beautiful morning. By the way, did you know that no two snowflakes are alike?
There is, probably, a dozen of ways on how to make a snowflake, but, in this post I will show you how I do it and I will explain why I do it this way.
The whole process starts in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW! depending on your personal preference. The shape of the snowflake can be done in any vector editing software. Unfortunately, Photoshop is (still) unsuitable for the complex shape creation.
So, here is what we will do.
- I will show you how to create a snowflake in CorelDraw
- Then we will transform that snowflake into Photoshop
- And in the end we will create a HiQuality snowflake Photoshop brush

Have fun creating!

P.S.: If you don’t use CorelDraw here’s the Snowflake.EPS file for you to download –>>

Christmas is coming. And maybe I would not notice too if the sales of Christmas Illustrations didn’t go up sharply in the last few days.
Obviously, designers, desktop publishers, art directors and marketing managers don’t waste time. After all, almost every one of us prepares at least some kind of graphics for Christmas, I thought I’d help you out by selecting and showing you some of my Christmas Illustrations.

Yes, it’s getting closer. And we are all getting more and more exciting. This is a special time of the year when we do special things for our special ones.
And in those special times we have special requirements for our designs and scrap books. Cause they need to be special too.
So, I prepared a special package for all of you, my special guests, a special package with a simple name:
Christmas – New Year Backgrounds

[ PREVIEW Christmas - New Year Backgrounds (3600x3600pix, 300dpi: 12x12inch) ]
[ GET Christmas - New Year Backgrounds 4 Pack for $3.99 - with Commercial Use! ]
What will those do to you?
They will make your life a whole lot easier because those will save your time so you will be able to make your Christmas designs and scrap books much faster and you’ll have much more fun creating new stuff with them.
So, here they are, and they come really really cheap when, at the same time, they offer so much benefits. They are, as I said a great time saver, they are in big resolutions, 3600px by 3600px at 300dpi which should be enough for bigger prints too. Of course, you can always decrease the size or use just a part of them for web purposes.
Yes, the price is $3.99 so just before you run over to the checkout maybe you’d like to browse through the rest of my little shop and see what else is there to help you out on your productivity quest and I bet’ya you’ll find loads for productivity boosters there.
And of course there’s one FREE Christmas – New Year Background that comes with Commercial Use: 1500x1500pix (300dpi) – 5x5inch

Create a new file 5″ x 7” at 300pix/inch in RGB mode. Color the background layer with a blue linear gradient.

Draw some basic tree shape or use my “tree.eps“. Place the “tree.eps” as “smart object”.

Copy it (CTRL+J on PC or Cmd+J on Mac) as much as you want – resize it and plant it all over your Christmas card.

You can resize it freely because it’s vector format and it will not loose a bit on quality.

Color them in different tones of white and blue to create an illusion of depth, 3rd dimension.

Create a new layer (CTRL+Shift+N on PC or Cmd+Shift+N on Mac), use snowflake brush from brush set “Grunge Snowflakes Brush” – spread snowflakes in different sizes all over the background.

Color the layer with the snowflakes with “Gradient Overlay” from white to approx 45% of cyan.

Now you can write “Merry Christmas” or “Happy New Year” and Christmas card is finished!

… or if you don’t feel like going through all this but would like to use this file for your needs – download the original file for less than $1 :)
Cheers!
