I’ve discovered a whole bunch of interesting stuff while packing for the removal (don’t we all)!
But, when I run into the hand made diaries I made few years ago I just had to take a picture of them and publish on my blog before putting them back in the box.
Actually I was making those for sale and they were selling quite well on the coast, but for some reason the gallery that sold them closed and since I am not much of a manager or sales person myself I just took what’s left of my unsold stuff and put them in the box to wait for some better days.
I remember I was enjoying making those diaries sooo much.
I did all of it by hand. From cutting the paper and wooden cover, painting the covers, making the photographs, editing photographs and printing them on the canvas and then putting them on the cover of the diary…
Then, on the top of it all I put a final layer of the transparent varnish and voila – the diary was born.
OK, I hope you like these diaries, maybe some of you got an idea to do something like that by yourself, should that be the case feel free to contact me with questions or if you need an advice.
Back to packing for removal now.
Take care,
Silvia
P.S.
Keep your fingers crossed for my removal tomorrow.
I know it will be fast, smooth and problem less but still I won’t mind having some extra positive energy from you guys. Thanks in advance!

P.P.S.
A tip for photographers: the photos on the covers of the diaries are decorated with Swirls Floral brushes set (42+42) Second Edition + 42 PNG files

We all need to be aware of environmental issues. And we can all help no matter what we do for living. So, even I, a Photoshop brushes designer, can use my work to promote green ideas.
I received that email the other day. It was a PowerPoint presentation showing how much damage plastic bags are doing to our planet. And how much good could we do if we just abandon them and go for good old fabric ones or paper bags. Even China banned the use of plastic bags.
I mean, I knew already knew how bad plastic bags are, but here are some facts that stunned me and probably won’t leave you indifferent too.
Consider the Following Shocking Facts About Plastic Shopping Bags:
* Plastic bags are made of polyethylene
* Polyethylene is a petroleum product
* Production contributes to air pollution and energy consumption
* Four to five trillion plastic bags are manufactured each year
* Americans use over 380 billion polyethylene bags per year
* Americans throw away approximately 100 billion polyethylene bags per year
* Of those 100 trillion plastic bags, 1% are recycled
* It takes 1000 years for polyethylene bags to break down
* As polyethylene breaks down, toxic substances leach into the soil and enter the food chain
* Approximately 1 billion seabirds and mammals die per year by ingesting plastic bags
* Plastic bags are often mistaken as food by marine mammals. 100,000 marine mammals die yearly by eating plastic bags.
* These animals suffer a painful death, the plastic wraps around their intestines or they choke to death
* Plastic bag choke landfills
* Plastic bags are carried by the wind into forests, ponds, rivers, and lakes

Christmas is near – Santa is coming and we are all thinking about giving! We all know that Christmas is not just about presents, it’s about showing your dear ones how much you love and appreciate them! And what better way there is to show it, but to put some extra effort in preparing a nice gift boxes by your self. In this post I will give you all instructions you need to prepare your own, very special – gift box! (With a little help of Photoshop brushes – as usual :))
So, to create your own gift box you will need:
- Nice Christmas graphics in Hi Resolution, ready to print
- Few minutes of your time to make an origami gift box out of them
1. Downloading and printing Christmas Graphics
I made four 8 1/4″ by 8 1/4″ (at 300dpi) Christmas designs for these Christmas gift boxes!
–>> PREVIEW Christmas backgrounds HERE
–>> DOWNLOAD Free Christmas backgrounds HERE (Zipped .jpg files) Sorry, 5 days subscription free download offer expired. Download is now available after joining GBG. Please read about our free download policy and join our GBG for more free downloads. Thanks!
Let me just mention, that I used Christmas Photoshop brushes set to create these Christmas graphics!
(Buyers of this set get really cool gift too :)))
Christmas set Photoshop Brushes (55+55)
* 55 HiRes Photoshop brushes (300 – 2428 pixels)
* 55 smaller Photoshop brushes (130-1400 pixels)
* Commercial license
* PC/Mac Compatible
* compatible with Photoshop 7.0, CS, CS2, CS3, CS4 and CS5
And, now print these graphics out on a paper. (Letter format or bigger. Depends on the size of the box you’d like to get.)
Of course, I made some some gift boxes and here are a little photo-story about how it went.
First, I printed all four papers on one 16.5 × 23.4 paper and this time I used Tecco’s Digital Photo 330 Gallery Board paper (it’s a little bit thick, but that’s all I had at the time). Then I simply cut the paper in four pieces.

Then following the instructions on the YouTube video (link is below), I assembled the first box – it turned out really cool :).
Now I needed one smaller box to nest it into the large one. To make that smaller one, I used one of the papers with graphics printed on it and I cut some 1/2″ of it from all four sides.
With this smaller piece of paper I made the same box shape, but this time it is a bit smaller so it can fit into the bigger one. So, the big one is a box lid and the small one is a box “container”.

Now, that looked cool! I was really impressed with the results! Then, I cut a little piece of a shiny red cloth. This cloth will save my Christmas tree glass ornament from breaking and it will make my gift look much cooler :)

Voila!
I hope you like what you see and I you’ll do the same for your own gifts!
Here is how to make origami paper boxes – YouTube video: Origami box
And here is a simple guide to a very similar origami box made by Sunni Bergeron: Origami GiftBox
That’s it! Hope you will enjoy your Christmas wrapping and have fun creating :)

Gang!
In case you did not notice, today is 9th of September 2009, or 09.09.09.
Now, how cool is that?
Some believe that 9 is the number of eternity. So, many decided to get married today for this symbolic reason.
Which brings me to Beatles. How? Well, not just because their fame is eternal, but also because they made a song called Revolution 9.
Did they want to tell us something with that number nine? Or with the word revolution? I don’t know. But I know that I made a pretty good shot of sunset yesterday and that I wanted to share it with you.
But not just the photo. I wanted to show you how to use Swirls Floral (42) Photoshop Brushes set and Good Old Snail Mail (28) Photoshop Brushes set to decorate a photo and make a postcard.
So, in this little graphic I decorated this sunset shot I took yesterday with Swirls Floral (42) Photoshop Brushes set and I made a postcard out of it using Good Old Snail Mail (28) Photoshop Brushes set.

I hope you like it and maybe it will give you some inspiration and ideas on how to use vectors and Photoshop brushes in your graphic design and scrap booking projects.

And if you just can’t setlle for compromise then 800+ Photoshop brushes MEGA SET is something you must see. (And not just because it’s your chance to get all of my brushes for 50% off the price).
