Yep, I’m all in Christmas atmosphere, giving giving giving … :)
While my little Poofitza sleeps behind the computer screen only her tail, lurking from behind, gives away her presence and I’m thinking about this years Christmas presents for my family.
It was always like this, our (wider) family gets together each year for Christmas. A Christmas tree, 15-20 family members, specially arranged dinner table, many good looking and even better tasting sweets and of course: many many presents under the Christmas tree.
Well, for last few years I thought a little about all these presents… and I realized that I should probably abandon old traditional approach and do something completely different this year. So, I decided: this year I will donate all of our Christmas presents budget to the SOS Children’s Village! And children will make 20 drawings for my family members with Christmas greetings! So, in Christmas spirit we will donate to the ones in need, our family members will get Christmas drawings and everyone will be happy. I’ll post some of the drawings, as soon as I get them in Thursday.
HoHoHo!

Gang! Before I present you with my new Photoshop brushes, I just have to share this with you:
Here I am, getting ready to finish my work but just can’t keep my eyes of Poofitzah. The level if interest she shows in most trivial things is amazing. I mean, how much fun can one have with a plastic bottle cap? Or a piece of crumpled tinfoil?
Believe me, this little creature is totally amazed by it! She probably believes that plastic bottle caps are the biggest human invention since, like, ever!
The level of excitement she displays after kicking it, the passion involved in chasing it, eyes wide open after the jump and a quick catch! Sometimes I wish I could share her amazement, astonishment and interest in just about anything one can lay their eyes or hands or paws on.
I just love that innocent little creature.
However, in between keeping my eyes on Poofitzah, I managed to prepare a brand new Photoshop brushes set. This time, the theme is – Floral Ornaments so I called it Floral Ornaments – Art Nouveau. It took me a while to finish it, but, as always, that’s why they are of the highest quality… by the way, here is a short excerpt from one of the emails I receive about my brushes. Thank you guys!

We have a new family member! (who inspired me to finally finish the Cats Photoshop brushes that I started to work on last June) Gorgeous little kitten, barely two months old, called Poomfoolyitzah! I know, it is almost impossible to pronounce so we gave her a nickname Poofitzah! I know, this is probably not much easier. Maybe we should have called her Curly. That would be easy, but what can I say…

She is totally thrilled with almost everything she could lay her paws on! But, those of you who have kittens will know what I’m talking about. We totally love her and as long as we give her food and warm home she will love, OK, at least – bare with us … :)

These are, as always, HiRes, compatible from Photoshop 7.0 onwards. (I know, I will have to lay my hands on Photoshop CS4 but I’m pretty sure CS4 is downwards compatible so that shoul not be a problem for those of you eary birds who already have a copy.)

And now something completely different: Photoshop Action – Old Grainy Image Effect by me :)
I hope that you all know what Photoshop Actions are and what can those do for you. If not, you will find out shortly. They’re, actually, quite easy to use and are a real time savers.
Basically, Photoshop action is a sequence of commands that are executed in order to apply formatting, setting or some effect on the image. For this post I prepared an action that will apply an old grainy effect on image.
I made this action for HiQuality images. So, please don’t use small images and then be grumpy about it :) For successful finishing you’ll need a photo or image not smaller than 2500x2500pix.
First open your image. I used a photo of my friend Mirta, simple portrait that we made in my living room (as you can see, I used one huge red and orange bed cloth to serve as a background).
To load PS Actions you have to open PS Action Window on Windows main menu or hit ALT+F9.
Photoshop comes with actions that you can use, but now click on small arrow in the upper right windows corner to get the drop down menu
and go to “Load Actions” – then choose Old Grainy Image Effect wherever you seved it, on your Desktop or somewhere else (in PS they come in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop\Presets\Photoshop Actions folder).
Now, select the folder (open it so that the arrow is pointing bellow), and select the name of the Photoshop Action “Old Grainy Image Effect” and finally hit the PLAY button at the bottom of the Actions window.
Sit back and wait.
Actions will do the rest. And now we have one Old Grainy Image in sepia tone. You can download my Photoshop Action Old Grainy Image here without subscription for the next 5 days.

Dear all,
I don’t know how many of you know, but 2nd of October is UN Non-violence day. And I fully support the idea. I think we all should help raising public awareness of that problem. Unfortunately, today, violence is all around us and we should all condemn it.

KUBOTA SLOPPY BORDERS have always been a favorite way to present images in the old days of film. But with digital, this cool retro look is much more difficult to achieve. Scaleable, snap them on inside or outside your image, and even change the border color to fit your image!
To create the Sloppy Borders, Kevin Kubota and Craig Strong, (of Strong Photography and Lensbaby, LLC) went into the darkroom and individually printed the borders, using a variety of filed out negative carriers (the traditional way). Then, they were scanned at high resolution, and digitally prepared for overlay on any image.
Excellent for online presentations or slide shows, this is the finishing touch Pak that will set your images apart from the rest.

It’s been a while. It’s been more than a while… but, hey, it’s August. :) Time to take it easy.
