I remember, a very long time ago (it was still 20th century :)) I collected photos of my family members: grandfather, grandmother, mother, sister, aunts, uncles, cousins … and got them scanned in a printing studio (no digital cameras at that time of course and to buy flatbed scanner you had to be seriously rich). I wanted to create a calendar as a Christmas gift to all members of my family.
So, in CorelDRAW! I made 12 pages calendar, one page each month. And I still remember, today, how tough it was to create months and how many times I had to check and re-check the weekdays and numbers and holidays and birthdays (each family member had their birthday especially marked on that calendar).
It takes time to verify and make sure that all 365 dates are under the correct weekday. It took me a week, at that time, to finish the calendar.
But it was the best Christmas gift I could have given to them. Everyone just loved it! Some kept that calendar for years after that Christmas and everyone still remembers how, back then in ninety something, they got this custom calendar with images and birthdays of our family members.
Today, I am a pro. I made so many calendars since then that I lost the count. Anyway, that one is still remembered and it shows how custom made gifts will always have a special place in our memories.
Even if you are just starting with Photoshop and you don’t know, if just don’t have the time to make a calendar in Adobe Illustrator or CorelDRAW! you can use your own photos, add your personal touch and make beautiful calendars with a little help of the brand new, (bsilvia brand of quality! :) ):

Hi, this is not Silvia speaking.
I’m Meoki.

Black&White, up-side-down cat holding “Special Offers” board, look here, a little bit up on the right side ->
Silvia decided that she needs some rest (and believe me – she does) and asked me if I could do the post and introduce brand new Photoshop brushes she created for her GBG Platinum Members.
“Sure“, I said. As if I had anything else to do except holding that “Special Offers” board all day long (I go away at night but sssshhh! Don’t tel her.)
“Why did you put me up-side-down, by the way?” I asked her. “It’s a good thing that I am just a cartoon, otherwise all my blood would end up in my head. Not good …“
“Because” she said, “I red somewhere, that people will notice you more easily that way.“
“Peeh!”

Anyways, she be gone (sends “hugs and kisses everyone”), I’m here, so bear with me (you could beer with me as well. If you click on the “Special Offers” board and get yourself some nice discounted brushes, vectors, etc … :))
Anyways, it’s Tuesday, and Silvia wanted to dedicate every Tuesday to her GBG Platinum members, by giving them a little …. well … gift! So, this Tuesday, she prepared
Swirled Squares Design Elements (Photoshop brushes, or Digital stamps as some call it)
Swirled Squares consists of 12 brushes in two sizes (as usual to prevent overstretching and keep the quality top-notch) and two design styles: clean and grungy.
| Preview Swirled Squares Photoshop brushes set |

Photoshop Text Effects Pack
An update: Photoshop Text Effects Pack is finished, and there’s a freebie too :)
I know, you must be wondering why on the world did I decide to use the Winter theme in the middle of the Summer? And you surely must be wondering why do I want to promote winter text effect, again, in the middle of the Summer?!
Beats me. I guess I just had a day like this. Not a good marketer. I know.
Anyhow, hereby I want to announce a new product. This time it is a pure PSD files with several layers. But, this one will enable you to get these text effects quickly and with no effort whatsoever.
I hope you will like it.
Of course, you will be able to lettering and the font as per you preferences.

Anyways, here is another sample on this new Text Effects Pack – Rain, not that much of a Winter theme any more, innit?:

So, Text Effect Pack will consist of 6 different text effect for Photoshop! Every text effect will be presented on 12×12 inches background suitable for the effect.
Some text effect will be linked to the background (like this one above) but you can change the background with another one from your photo-album (for example: if you took the picture of water drops that fall from the window you can use it in this psd file)
OK, that’s it. You just saw half of this new pack :) Next three text effects will be presented when completed :)
And the tutorial on how to use them is on it’s way too.
Have a great Sunday,
Silvia

OK. Now that I said that, I can give you a short update on what’s going on so you won’t think I’m just sitting here doing nothing all day ;)
Actually, I am working hard, preparing a two new Photoshop brushes sets.
One will be called Swirled Trees. And the other one – Fantasy Birds.
There will be a LITE version of Swirled Trees (just a few brushes to get a taste of what’s in the PREMIUM package), which will be free and you will get it in our next issue of GBG eZine.
And since, I too have to pay the bills, there will also be the PREMIUM version which will include 20 of those beautiful brushes in HiRes with Commercial License, which will, well, not be free. But, for Silver or Gold Members of our Green Bulb Gang, they will get the PREMIUM version on discount!
Also SILVER and GOLD GBG Members will get Fantasy birds Photoshop brushes – for FREE!
As some of you, Facebook friends, have already noticed, I’m kinda addicted to my new Hipstamatic iPhone photo application, so I use it wherever it fits and I also use it in the situations where I probably should not be using it, like in this post.
I made these beautiful Swirled Trees and I wanted to share with you the working version from my screen (which, apart from my iPhone is still the only Apple piece of equipment I’ve got …).
So, of course, in this post I just had to use Hipstamatic again and get that “lomo” look … Here is the working version of the new Photoshop brushes – Swirled Trees which will come out in the next (May) issue of GBG eZine:

And here is the working preview of Fantasy birds Photoshop brushes, also coming out in May issue of GBG eZine:

And, of course, Mr. Alphons (a.k.a. Peackoh) and Poofah are always here, watching from above :))

Oh, and if you are into lomo photography, stop by myHipstamatic.blogspot.com for more :)
So, as you can see, I’m working hard, thinking of you and, while waiting for the next issue of GBG eZine, stop by my shop for some really cool, HiQuality, beautiful Photoshop brushes with commercial license included ->
Love ya all!
Silvia
P.S.
Did you notice how Graphics-Illustrations.Com has now Google Page Rank of 4 (four)? Well, I did! Had to do bear dance on that one ;)

Guys,
I received an email the other day. It came from Germany and it was from a young woman who’s dream is to be a fashion designer. She wanted to buy my 800+ Photoshop brushes MEGA SET because the brushes there were just what she needed for her first fashion line but she wanted to make sure it is in line with my ToU before she makes a purchase.
Of course it was in line with my ToU! Actually, I was so happy that my brushes will be used that way that I decided to give her some of these brushes in as vector graphics as well!
When I was younger I dreamt the same dream. Wanted to be a fashion designer, making my own fashion lines… but life went into a different direction and now I’m graphic designer.
Anyways, what I wanted to say, it always amazes me to I see how many different and creative ways you find in using Photoshop brushes.
I mean, we did the boots design with Photoshop brushes, we made T-Shirts and socks, rubber stamps, packaging paper design, software application interfaces, that was fun, and I’d really really love to see C. making a success as a fashion designer.
Guys, I just needed to share with you, once again, how fascinated I am with the world of options we are surrounded with. Every day. If we just open our eyes.
Create, invent, discover!
Love,
Silvia
PS:

What can I say? I was so happy when I realized that Google raised the ranking of this site to PR3! Happy, the least to say.
What does it mean – Page Ranking PR3?
Simply put, it means that Google trusts this site, it means that Google appreciates the fact that I am making original content, unique posts and that I publish my own brushes here. Google realized that I’m not just aggregating other people’s work here.
Also, it means that advertisers will want to, well, advertise more on this site because links from PR3 sites are quite valuable :).
But, above all, this confirms that I am on the right track being persistent, for a third year now, creating new and original content, Photoshop brushes, vector illustrations, backgrounds, tutorials and other useful stuff.
So, thank you Google, thank you visitors and I hope to see PR4 really soon :))
In the meantime, enjoy this site, join Green Bulb Gang and free downloads that we offer.
Love you all,
Silvia

Guys! My apartment is a mess! It is the first day of the removal (we’re moving to that house we bought few months ago) and, you can imagine, it’s just boxes all around this place.
So, I thought, since I won’t be making any new posts for a next few days, I’d just show you my mock-up for the next Photoshop brushes I had in mind. I’ll call them: Fantasy birds :)
I started to make this draft today, but, since the movers are coming on Monday, there was now way for me to finish it today too. I mean, I would need at least two days anyway. So, I hope you like the preview and I promise to have the full package ready as soon as I settle down at my new place.
Until then, stay well, have a great weekend and we’ll talk soon.
:)

Love,
Silvia
P.S.
In the mean time maybe you’d like to take a look at the 800+ Photoshop brushes MEGA SET offer.

I already wrote about this before and now it’s the time to encourage myself (and all of you who need encouragement) again.
The importance of not giving up.
Why is it important not to give up?
Because we never know what’s awaiting for us just around the corner. Striving and trying keeps the hope alive and keeps us moving.
Why is it important to keep moving?
Because, when we stop moving, it means that we gave up. Then, despondency takes over and we were not born to be despondent. We were born to be happy. So, our task on this planet is to strive to achieve happiness. For some of us it’s easy and for others … well … not that much. Some of us are happy all the time, some of us have happy and sad periods, some of us are sad most of the time.
But still, every day, each and every one of us, when we wake up in the morning, until we go to sleep at night, everything we do is driven by one single purpose – to be happy.
Helping others to be happy (or at least not to be sad, or desperate or ill), that’s also something that makes us happy, right? (or at least it should be)
Anyways, this is my daily dose of encouragement. Even if these are difficult times for me, I know, I have no other choice but to keep moving. You never know what’s waiting just around the corner :)
Hugs,
Silvia
P.S.

Of course, I did not forget about our monthly desktop wallpaper calendar! I received quite a few emails where you ask if I could adapt the last years wallpaper for this year too. No problem here it is! March 2010 Calendar Desktop Wallpaper free download:
